The “At Home with…” team spends some time with football referee Nick Mullins, a man who has dreamt of being a referee since he was a child.
We follow Nick as he copes with life in lockdown during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has kept him away from his beloved job.
Nick opens up and gives us an insight into his life, his passions and his dreams for the future.
The Idea
"At Home with... Nick Mullins" is the first installment in the "At Home with..." short film anthology series created by Paul Longley. The series of stand-alone short films operates around a "comedy character study" of the title lead role of the episodic short. "At Home with... Nick Mullins" was created and filmed during the Covid-19 UK Lockdown of 2020, so as well the episodic short being set against this backdrop, filming also followed all government guidelines during production. The "At Home with..." series is a collaboration between Paul and James Longley who both co-directed and edited the project. Filmed mainly within their home, it was made with absolutely no budget whatsoever and used only family and friends to play the supporting roles to ensure its naturalistic and authentic feel.
